Shelter

Presented at the 10th Edition of the Biennale du Lin de Portneuf, Quebec, Canada

Made for the 10th edition of the Biennale du Lin de Portneuf, in Quebec, Canada, the installation Shelter talks about the housing crisis and the amount of empty houses found sealed with cement. Many people without houses and many houses without people. The work is an irony: a shelter that is not a shelter.

The way we interact with the house, the place in which we inhabit and its symbolism and this work is based on the book “Poetics of space” by Gaston Bachelard (1994).

Shelter is colorful on the inside and white on the outside. It invites who visits to the inside, but it has no door. The artists evokes a game of senses: the visitor may observe, feel, touch, look and explore, but cannot go inside.
